Two Pittsburgh hospitals have been named among the best in the country by IBM Watson Health.

West Penn Hospital and St. Clair Hospital were named in the 100 Top Hospitals list the company puts out each year.

IBM Watson Health recognizes hospitals of all sizes, in five different categories — major teaching hospitals, teaching hospitals, large community hospitals, medium community hospitals, and small community hospitals.

West Penn was among 25 facilities recognized in the teaching hospitals category. St. Clair was among 20 facilities recognized in the large community hospitals category.

The two hospitals are among just four on the list in Pennsylvania. The other two are St. Luke’s Anderson Campus in Easton and St. Luke’s Hospital in Quakertown.

The Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals study uses available data to analyze hospital performance.

Watson Health is a business unit of IBM that is dedicated to the development and implementation of cognitive and data-driven technologies to advance health.
